CHENGDU, CHINA – August 15, 2025. Team Canada’s mixed doubles duo, Coby Iwaasa (Lethbridge, AB) and Frédérique Lambert (Montréal, QC), delivered a strong performance to secure their place in the semifinals at the Chengdu 2025 World Games.
After opening the tournament on August 14 with a win in the Round of 16 against Ireland, the Canadian pair faced higher-seeded opponents, Edwin Galicia and Gabriela Martinez of Guatemala, in the quarterfinals on August 15.
The first game was a nail-biter, with Canada edging out an 11–9 win. Guatemala responded in the second game, evening the match with a 9–11 result. Iwaasa and Lambert came out firing in the third, dominating 11-4, and carried that momentum into the fourth game, closing out the match with a strong 11–8 victory.
